Tetracycline Staining and
Porcelain Facings

Teeth can be stained internally during development.  Tetracycline is a wonderful antibiotic but cannot be used for young children since it will bind to their developing teeth (problem below happened between 4 and 6 years of age).  Other less severe defects can occur from high fevers and excessive fluoride.  Porcelain facings are laboratory made products that can adhere to the front of the tooth to correct these types of challenges.  They can also be used for cosmetics alone, where teeth are excessively crowded, chipped or misshapen.
